Safari in Rajasthan
2nights / 3days The camel, the ship of the desert, is an important facet of the Rajasthani desert folk's existence and an encounter with the sand dunes of Rajasthan from atop this stately beast is an enthralling experience and Mandawa, located in the heart of the Shekhawati region, is an ideal getaway to get a feel of the desert. You can combine this with a visit to Jaipur and Agra. Best time: November/December/January/February Day 1 Delhi-Mandawa Morning drive to Mandawa arriving by lunch time. Check into hotel. Afternoon tour of the "hawelis" famous for their frescoes. Hawelis were homes of the Marwari trading community who displayed their immense wealth by building elaborate mansions. Overnight at hotel. Day 2 At Mandawa After breakfast begin a six-hour camel safari for Dhakas, a Rajasthani hamlet on the sand dunes, at a distance of about 18 km. Arrive camp. Evening explore the nearby villages. A relaxed evening around the campfire enlivened by the rhythm of dances performed by the locals. Overnight in tented accommodation. Day 3 Mandawa -Delhi After an early breakfast we start out on our second leg of the camel safari -- about a six-hour safari to Khotia, another hamlet. Picnic lunch at Khotia. Drive back to Delhi.
