Rides

It is possible to hire an authorized guide and tour the park in your own vehicle. If you are visiting in a normal car and not a 4-wheel drive vehicle, it is advisable to take one on hire from the local operators or through the reception office of the resort you are staying at. It is advisable to hire jeeps with petrol engines instead of diesel ones as they are a lot quieter and the drive is a lot more enjoyable. The park authorities also organize elephant rides into the park, which are an excellent way of truly experiencing the jungle. These elephant rides begin from Kisli, Kanha and Mukki. It is worth trying out the rides from more than one place, if you have time on your side. This gives you an excellent feeling of the different areas of the park. The ride charges are much higher than in other parks across the country but the chances of sighting a tiger during a ride are much higher here too. One point that makes you feel better is that all the money made from ride and entrance fees here goes back into the running and development of the park. This is not so in most of the other parks of the country
