Great Spots

Wildlife at Kanha is quite well spread out but for certain animals it is advisable to keep the following tips in mind during your visit. If you are interested in viewing Gaur (the Indian Bison) or Dhole (the Indian Wild Dog), trips to the Bahmnidadar, Bishanpura, Sondhar, Ghorella areas would be a good idea. To see huge herds of various ungulates, the central Kanha valley and it's grasslands are the ideal location. The meadows are excellent areas to spot the few Black Buck that are residents of the park. The chances of spotting leopards are best on the thickly forested slopes of the plateaus in the park. For tigers, any area is as good as the next but elephant rides provide the best probabilities of its sightings. The Shravantal in the central valley region is also an excellent area for spotting all kinds of animals and birds.
