Topography The overall topography of Kanha consists of huge plateaus with vast grasslands. The park also has expansive meadows left behind by villages relocated outside the park by the concerned authorities. The park is irrigated and drained by the rivers Sulkum, Banjar and Nila. It also has many perennial springs that provide the much-required water in the higher areas during the extremely hot summer months. Shravantal is the main water body in the central meadows, which attracts a variety of wildlife to it. Flora The slopes of the plateaus are very thickly forested with Bija, Haldu, Dhaora as the main trees giving away to strands on almost pure Sal, then Ban-rahar, Bamboo and Sindhur. The park, especially in the cooler and greener months is amazingly scenic and a landscape photographer's dream come true. |
