Accomodation Most of the accommodation available at the park is located along the national highway 37 which runs along the southern border of the park. The main locations of accommodation facilities are at Kohora and Baguri. There is a variety of accommodation types to choose from which consist of Forest rest houses, Bungalows, Lodges and Hotels. Even though the number of rooms available is quite a few, the demand in more than the supply and it is advisable to make your bookings well in advance to avoid disappointments. The Forest Lodges of the forest and wild life department are located at Baguri and Kohora. Of these lodges, Aranya has the maximum accommodation space available with Air-conditioned and non air-conditioned rooms available. These rooms are available with attached baths, private balconies, room service and an in house restaurant. The second largest is Bonani. This is smaller than Aranya with 5 air-conditioned rooms and it's own restaurant. The Bonoshree lodge offers options more suited to the budget traveler. For the totally adventurous, the Kunjban lodge offers dormitory facility where it is advisable to take along your sleeping bags and air pillow. For those willing to spend lavishly in return for a comfortable stay and experience, there is a luxury resort by the name of "Wild Grass". Other than offering luxurious accommodation, the resort also provides excellent facilities and services like jeep safaris, elephant rides and even sport fishing for the mighty Mahaseer at Bhalukpung on the river Jia Bharali. This resort also operates during the off-season in the summer months. It offers similar rides but in areas outside the main park, swimming and white water rafting. The directorate of Tourism office is located at the Bonani lodge in Kohora. All visitors to the park are required to sign in here. Depending on availability, booking for the nearby lodges and elephant rides can also be done here. This area is a good location to take up accommodation during your visit as it is located close to the park entrance and also to the point of commencement of the elephant rides. This area also has a pleasant collection of small shops and local restaurants located mostly around the bus stop. Also, in recent times, a lot of the animal population like rhinos, deer and wild buffaloes have started grazing very close to the park entrance in the Kohora area. |
