White water rafting is also quite popular in Ladakh. It isn't as popular as in some of the other rafting locations around the country due to the colder climate of this region. For those who take on the challenge of going ahead with it never seem to come back disappointed.

The most popular river run by all enthusiasts visiting this area is the Zangskar. This offers some exciting rapids and also movement through awesome scenery.

Other sections that are run by rafters near the Leh area are:

- Nimoo to Alchi (Half a day) - One of the more exciting and demanding sections.
- Hemis to Choglamsar Bridge (3 hours) - more of a float trip through beautiful landscape with chances to see wildlife if luck is on your side.
- Phey to Nimoo (4 hours) - An interesting mix of a float trip interspersed some exciting rapids.
