Pench
National Park, due to its varied terrain and abundance
of water bodies, has an excellent population of birds,
resident and migrant. In total, a list of 242 species have
been documented. Some of the best locations to watch birds
at, and from, are - Alikatta (for open grassland species),
Chhindimatta road and Kalapahad areas (for raptors,
Orioles and all tree and hilly terrain dwelling species) and Chhindimatta,
Bodhanala, Alikatta and the river Pench (for aquatic species)

saw numerous Indian Pittas seen rarely in most other parks

Vulture, Short-Toed Snake Eagle, Crested Serpent Eagle,Shikra,
White-Eyed Buzzard, Booted Eagle, Darter, Indian Cormorant, Great
Egret, Indian Pond Heron, Chestnut-tailed Starling (73
species).
The most striking thing noticed by Mohit during his trip was the
abundance of raptors and orioles seen and also seeing many common
Hoopoe in the jungle environment.
