The dramatic effect of erosion by wind and water over the years has created an area that is best described by the name given to it - Moonland. This creates an incredible backdrop to the awe-inspiring Lamayuru monastery.

A sudden flash flood took good care of the bridge on the main road between Recong Peo and Jangi. The only options open  were to take a two day extra detour and miss the Spiti valley or to take this alternate route with a 2000 foot straight drop on one side and barely wide enough for one narrow vehicle. Mohit's gang chose the latter and sure were glad they did as they came across awesome sights in rapid fire
