Situated on the main approach road to the park, a couple of kilometers out of Sawai Madhopur, the Ranthambore School of Art is trying to help preserve what is it's own foundation stone - the tiger.

The school recruits students from the surrounding villages and towns. The aim is to keep the beautiful image of the tiger in the minds of everyone. This they feel in turn would create a positive feeling in people otherwise indifferent, or negative, regarding the importance of the tiger's survival. The school also goes into villages and gives demonstrations and talks. They say the most encouraging factor is the response from young children.

Some of the larger masterpieces are expensive but worth every penny

These children then obviously go back and influence the minds of those in their respective homes. They are also the future conservationists in the making.

The Ranthambore School of Art is located along the main approach road to the park

The paintings the students, and teachers, of the school create are marvels definitely worth seeing, if not buying. There are paintings in various sizes and fitting most budgets. The price range could vary from Rs. 1000/- to Rs. 75,000/- for a large masterpiece. They may be a little more expensive than the other private shops around also selling paintings, but it's a lot more comforting to know you have not JUST bought a beautiful piece of art.

You would have also helped in the efforts of saving the subjects of these paintings and not simply warmed the pockets of a commercially minded shopkeeper.

The school has been invited to hold exhibitions all over the world and their contribution towards conservation has been recognised by NGOs and animal protection societies of Ranthambore and the country.
