This is a unique opportunity to actually be part of a serious search for an endangered and rarest of animal, the Snow Leopard (Panthera uncia), and a bird considered extinct by most people, the Himalayan Quail (Ophrysia superciliosa). Join Mohit and Siddharth in their quest to discover these wild wonders of nature, seen only by few people blessed with sightings of these two species. The expedition group size will be limited to a maximum of 15 and a minimum of 5 members. There are fixed commencement dates. These are 1st May 2004 and 5th September 2004 for the Snow Leopard search (28 days expedition), and 14th Nov 2003 and 4th March 2004 for the Himalayan Quail search (15 days expedition). Please note that all those interested in being a part of this amazing adventure need to be relatively fit and able to endure 4 - 6 hours of walking in a day. The high altitude factor must be kept in mind. There are no helicopter rescue facilities available in this area.

A Snow Leopard sighting is considered as the final goal by any true wildlife enthusiast. These already rarest of animals have been hunted almost to extinction by greedy humans hounding them for their fur. Being one of the most attractive animals, the snow leopard suitably lives among some of the most scenic mountainscapes anywhere in the world.

It could be your precious picture of the Himalayan Quail we may display here some day! The Himalayan Quail is a beautiful bird with a bright red bill and striking black streaks marking it's body. There have only been very few individual sightings and these have mainly been reported from the area the expedition plans to cover. Siddharth has been informed by some of the locals that they have seen birds similar to the Himalayan quail. Join the effort to rediscover a bird presumed extinct by many.
