Some of the places in around worth visiting and knowing about are:

Piyali: This is another gateway to the park like Canning where various facilities like transportation and accommodation are available. It is located in the North West area of the park.

Fraserganj: This is located at the South West extreme of the park and consists of beautiful white beaches. This area is also famous for it's migratory birds and pisciculture.

Lothian Island: This is a bird sanctuary, located to the South West of the park, famous for sightings of the white bellied sea eagles, black capped kingfishers, whimbrells, terns and curlews.

Bakkhali: This area located to the South West of the park houses one of the better known resorts overlooking the Bay of Bengal.

Mayadwip: This little island located near the southern tip of the park is famous for being the favourite nesting place of the Olive Ridley Turtles.

Kalasdwip: This island, located in the South Western region of the park, is one of the most thickly wooded islands in the area.

Bhagatpur: This area located in the Western region of the park is home to the largest estuarine crocodiles. The park authorities utilize this location as a hatchery cum sanctuary for these reptiles.

Sajnekhali Bird Sanctuary: This area located at the confluence of the rivers Matla and Gumdi in the northern region of the park is home to many species of birds with herons, egrets etc. being the ones predominantly visible mostly.

Canning: This little town located to the North West of the main park is the main gateway to it. It is located 54 kilometers Southeast of Calcutta. It was built in 1858 as an alternate port. It is also the main location for hiring of private boats and the point of disembarkation of the tourism run launches.
