Rides at Sunderban N.P.

The only means of exploring the park is to hire a boat and float down the various lanes formed by the many draining rivers. These boats can be one of those operated by the locals in the area or one of the two luxury launches, M.V. Chitrarekha and M.V. Madhukar, operated by the tourism department. The M.V. Chitrarekha offers all the basic facilities required, including overnight accommodation. No permission is required for the general cruise but if you want to explore areas of the Sunderbans beyond that, then the necessary papers have to be arranged. The local boats and available at Canning, Gosaba and Basanti whereas the luxury launches commence their journey only from Canning.
